Tour Length: 4 miles (round trip)     /       Approx. 3 hours
Open Water: approx. 2 miles         Level: Intermediate
Launch: Somers Cove Marina Ramp    –  Destination: Same

This morning-trip has it all.  Your CSP Tour Guide will lead you out into the Little Annemessex River to Janes Island, or Old Island as it’s called by the locals.

This tour has open water, guts through the salt marsh and sandy white beaches of Old House Cove and on the Tangier Sound side.  Here your guide will give you a short walking tour telling the stories of the rich history that includes everything from pirates to the first naval battle on the Chesapeake Bay.

The chimney is the only tangible remnant of human life on the island that dates back over three centuries.  Come hear the history of the outlying islands that once had farms and orchards that sustained life for the early colonists who settled this area.

Bring the chicken-necks, crab net, baskets, fishing rods and swimming trunks.  Depending on the paddle-time you may have up to an hour to enjoy the island however you wish (all applicable crabbing/fishing laws apply).  Swimming, scavenger hunting to relaxing on the beach are just a few to enjoy!

Cost: $15 / $35 if  kayak rental is needed.
